At that time, Mitrovica Industrial Park was the most vital object of Trepça, due to the 110 kilovolt power substation in Shupkovc. In that power substation were working only serbs. Afterwards, two Albanian electrical engineers were allowed to work there, Shefik Mehmeti and Besim Abrashi. French KFOR provided the security in the industrial park, reiterating that two Albanians, Shefik Mehmeti and Besim Abrashi, worked at the power substation up to the year 2000.
