Enlighten Trepça
Green Fest is the annual festival that 7 Arte organizes, every year the theme of the activities is related to one of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). As part of the 11th edition, the motto of the festival was “Enlighten the City”, the theme set in SDG 11; Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Thus, 7 Arte organized the workshop “Enlighten Trepça”, taking an important step towards achieving the goal of “Trepc’Art Factories”. The workshop developed over 5 days, dealt with the possibility of revitalization and creation of sustainable spaces in the industrial park “Trepça”.
The workshop was held in these spaces with participants from different cities of Kosovo, mainly architecture students.
As part of the workshop agenda, a whole day was dedicated to visiting the historical and cultural identifying points of the city, so participants from other cities had the opportunity to get to know the character of the city and its values. During the next four days, numerous lectures were held. Further on, the participants worked on some conceptual ideas about the area, based on the knowledge gained from the lecturers and the analysis of the location.
The mentor of the workshop was the architect Leunita Syla. Within the framework of the workshop, active discussions took place between the participants and guests; as officials from the Municipality of Mitrovica, city activist Mr. Nexhmedin Spahiu, Mrs. Nora Prekazi from the Museum of Mitrovica and Mevlude Skuroshi from the Craft Center, “Social Space for Deconstruction”. To address the topic of the workshop in more detail, the speakers were invited: architect Mr. Rron Begiri, TA at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Pristina, Mr. Valon Xhabali, from NGO EC Ma Ndryshe, GE Ramadan S. Uka, architect Mr. Blendar Cana, architect Mr. Kosovar Jashari, architect Mr. Genc Demiraj, and the architect Ms. Arbnora Skuroshi. They shared their attitudes and expertise towards the researched space.
